# Retrieve Monitor Limits

> Returns how many monitors the account has and the maximum it allows.

<Badge color="green">0 Credits</Badge>

Compare `monitors_used` with `monitors_limit` before [creating a monitor](/api-reference/monitors/create). The limit reflects your plan allowance or an organization-specific override. For run costs, use [Retrieve Monitor Credit Usage](/api-reference/monitors/credit-usage).
